CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - A Texas appellate court has affirmed $772,500 verdict rendered in favor of the family of a woman who died after using a drug patch manufactured by Alza Corp. Alza Corp. v. Thompson, No. 13-07-00090 (Texas App., Corpus Christi-Edinburg).
On April 1, the Texas 13th Court of Appeals found that the evidence supports the 2006 verdict.
The family of Michaelynn Thompson sued Alza in the Harris County District Court, alleging that a Duragesic pain patch caused Thompson's death. A jury found that a manufacturing defect in the patch caused Thompson's death and that Alza was negligent …
