Court Denies Seroquel Plaintiffs' Motion for De-Designation of Documents

ORLANDO, Fla. - A federal magistrate judge has denied as untimely Seroquel plaintiffs' motion to compel AstraZeneca to de-designate documents withheld from production based on privileged assertions. In re Seroquel Products Liability Litigation, No. 06-1769 (M.D. Fla.).
On Nov. 6, Magistrate Judge David A. Baker of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida ruled that the plaintiffs filed their motion"nearly a year late" without any explanation for the delay.
Plaintiffs allege that AstraZeneca failed to properly warn consumers that Seroquel, an atypical antipsychotic medication, may cause diabetes and related disorders.
