PHILADELPHIA - A Pennsylvania state court jury has found that GlaxoSmithKline is liable for $2.5 million to the family of a child who was born with heart defects after her mother took the antidepressant Paxil while pregnant. Kilker v. GlaxoSmithKline, No. 001813 (Pa. Comm. Pls., Phila. Co.).
After deliberating for seven hours, the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Philadelphia County, jury found Oct. 13 that the drug maker failed to properly warn physicians and consumers about the risks associated with Paxil.
