WASHINGTON, D.C. - A man who claims that he sustained a neuropathy after receiving the hepatitis B vaccines failed to establish a logical sequence of cause and effect and therefore failed to satisfy his evidentiary burden showing that the vaccination caused his injury, a special master ruled. Shaw v. Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, No. 01-707V (Fed. Cl. Ct.).
Special Master Patricia E. Campbell-Smith of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims ruled that the petitioner's expert lacked the sufficient expertise and experience to opine on his condition.
