PHILADELPHIA - Four complaints were filed against Bayer Corp. and its subsidiaries in Pennsylvania state court, alleging that the drug maker failed to adequately warn consumers and doctors of the risks associated with the oral contraceptives Yaz and Yasmin. Shea, et ux. v. Bayer Corp., No. 090703662 (Pa. Comm. Pls., Phila. Cty.).
The suits, filed July 29 in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, claim that Bayer's failure to market the drugs without adequate warnings has caused plaintiffs to sustain "severe and permanent personal injuries," including blood clots, stroke, heart attacks and gall bladder disease necessitating removal.
