WASHINGTON, D.C. - A man who alleged that his type 1 diabetes was aggravated by a hepatitis B vaccine he received when he was 10 years old failed to establish causation by preponderant evidence, a special master has ruled. Hennessey v. Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, No. 01-190V (Fed. Cl. Ct.).
In an omnibus proceeding, Special Master Denise K. Vowell of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims ruled May 29 that the petitioner did not meet the Althen three-prong test for causation.
