icMendicold allergy must be differentiated from mold toxicity. Mold toxins refer to the aspects of mold contact, inhalation and ingestion that are inherently poisonous to human biological systems. While mold allergy is not intrinsically poisonous, its effects can lead to serious illness and even fatal results. An example of this is severe, unrelenting mold-induced asthma, termed status asthmaticus. Another example would be a very severe reaction called anaphylaxis in which the allergic reaction is so extensive and severe as to cause circulatory collapse.
