NEW ORLEANS - A state appeals court has affirmed a $34,644.66 fee assessment against a Louisiana lawyer who allegedly obtained a default judgment in a workplace mold case after verbally agreeing to a defense request for a responsive filing extension. Filson v. Windsor Court Hotel, et al., Nos. 2007-CA-0755 and 2007-CA-0756 (La. Ct. App., 4th Cir.).
Louisiana's Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal affirmed the sanction against Patrick F. Lee, who disputed defense contentions that he obtained a nearly $2 million judgment for his clients by "fraud or ill practices" (La. Code. Civ. Pro. Art. 2004).
