Texas Insurance Commissioner's Mold Coverage Decision Meets with Criticism

AUSTIN, Texas - State Insurance Commissioner Jose Montemayor has made public his decision regarding how mold coverage will be regulated in Texas.
The restructured policy released Nov. 28 does follow recent recommendations by the insurance industry. However, the changes were met with no less criticism than Montemayor's previous compromise recommendations, which were released Sept. 18 and drew fire from both consumer and industry groups as being not supportive enough of consumer protection and too strict to allow insurers to remain financially viable in the tough Texas homeowners policy market
