Texas Appeals Court Affirms $55,000 Judgment for Construction Defects

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - A Texas appellate court has affirmed a $55,000 judgment against a Texas construction firm, rejecting the contractor's argument that jurors were inconsistent in finding for the defendant on negligence yet awarding damages for construction defects. Vanounou, et al. v. Cantu, et al., No. 13-05-00453 (Texas 13th Dist., Corpus Christi-Edinburg).

The 13th District Court of Appeals affirmed the $45,000 verdict for homeowners Gerardo and Dulce Cantu, as well as the $10,000 in attorneys' fees the Cameron County Court awarded against appellant Gabriel Vanounou and his company, Mega Custom Homes Inc.
