Lawsuit Calls Mold-Infested California Homes 'Unfit for Human Habitation'

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Fifty-eight families have sued the companies that were involved in the development, design and construction of their Mentone, Calif., homes for construction defects that resulted in mold contamination. Schaaf, et al. v. JMS Boulder Creek, LLC, et al., No. SCVSS080577 (Calif. Super. Ct., San Bernardino Cty.).
The families are asking for an unspecified dollar amount in damages. They allege that the developers, contractors and subcontractors created a residential community riddled with design and construction flaws, which have resulted in the illnesses of 14 adults and seven children.
