County to Receive $12 Million in Settlement with Contractors, Designers and Suppliers

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The County of Santa Clara has settled with the vendors involved in the design and construction of its justice facility for $12 million after the county alleged that flaws in the project caused mold contamination. County of Santa Clara v. H. A. Ekelin & Associates, et al., No. 0410244 (Calif. Super. Ct., San Mateo Cty.).
The settlement was announced in August. According to William I. Anderson, assistant county counsel, the settlement will compensate the County of Santa Clara for $7 million in relocation costs and $5 million in remediation and repair costs.
