CHICAGO - A couple has sued their homeowners insurance carrier for negligence in its supervision of two contractors whose actions allegedly resulted in mold growth and secondary property damage to their winter storm-damaged home. Earl and Chrissy Filskov v. Illinois Farmers Insurance Company, No. 02CH14795 (Ill. Cir. Ct., Cook Cty., Ch. Div.).
The plaintiffs' Aug. 13 complaint filed against Illinois Farmers Insurance Company alleges, among other things, that the contractors were the agents of the insurer which must, therefore, take legal responsibility for their failure to properly repair and remediate the mold-damaged home.
