BEAUMONT, Texas - A Texas appellate court said Sept. 23 that discovery requests made by a homeowner to her insurance carrier were overly broad, and it would narrow their scope if the trial court did not do so on its own. In Re Fire Insurance Exchange, No. 09-04-301 CV (Texas App., 9th Dist.).
Betty Cowan, the policyholder, is pursuing a coverage action against Fire Insurance Exchange and other parties over mold contamination (Cowan v. Farmers' Insurance Exchange, et al., No. E-171,697, Texas 172nd Dist. Ct., Jefferson Cty.).
