Maytag Settles Neptune Washer Litigation For An Estimated $18.5 Million

BELLEVILLE, Ill. - Maytag has agreed to settle class claims over defective doors, circuit boards, mold and other problems reported in some models of its Neptune front-loading washing machines. Mink v. Maytag Corp., No. 03L47 (Ill. 20th Jud. Cir.).

The proposed settlement was filed Aug. 9 in the class action pending in Illinois' 20th Judicial District in St. Clair County. It covers owners of any Neptune washing machine purchased between April 1, 1997 and Aug. 9.

Maytag has agreed to reimburse owners between $100 and $500, depending on the age of the machine, with those owning machines for two years …
