Contractor Asks for $8,972 After Court Grants Nonsuit

LOS ANGELES - A contractor granted nonsuit after a trial over alleged construction defects has asked a California judge to award nearly $9,000 in costs. Sehuame v. Abell-Helou G.P., No. KC 040525L (Calif. Super., Los Angeles).
On July 23 at the close of a three-day trial, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Stern granted a motion for nonsuit by contractor Abell-Helou G.P. on claims by Florentino and Rosenda Sehuame of Shady Glen development in Pomona, Calif., who alleged construction defects, including a cracked concrete slab. The Sehuames contended their home was virtually worthless.
