Minn. Supreme Court Gives Broad Reading to 'Major Construction Defect'

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota's Supreme Court held April 1 that 'major construction defects' must be interpreted broadly in a 10-year home warranty statute, and includes damage occurring after construction is completed. Vlahos v. R&I Construction of Bloomington Inc., No. C7-02-1428. (Minn. Sup. Ct.).

In the same opinion, the court also held that knowledge of defects by one homeowner can be imputed to subsequent owners when determining whether a lawsuit was filed within the two-year statute of limitations.
