Texas Jury Awards Damages For Misrepresentations, Finds No Bad Faith

AUSTIN, Texas - A jury in Texas has awarded $71,000 to a woman who complained that State Farm Lloyds misrepresented the scope of a homeowner's policy, but declined to find bad faith or malicious intent. Beckelhymer v. State Farm Lloyds, No. GN-201771, (Texas 250th Dist. Ct., Travis Cty.).
After deliberating for six hours on March 12, jurors answered 'no' as to whether State Farm failed to comply with policy terms, engaged in unconscionable conduct, engaged in unfair or deceptive practices, or breached a duty of good faith.
