Coverage For 'Entire Collapse' Could Apply Despite Mold Exclusion

LOS ANGELES - A homeowner's policy excluding mold coverage but providing additional coverage for an 'entire collapse' could apply if mold was the underlying cause of the collapse, a California appellate court held March 18. Jordan v. Allstate Insurance Co., No. B164112 (Calif. App. Ct., 2nd Dist.).

Judge H. Walter Croskey, writing for California's Second Appellate District said it was clear that the collapse would have to be complete, rather than imminent, even if applied to a room or specific portion of the home. But the trial court will have to resolve those factual issues on remand, Judge Croskey said.
