SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A state court judge has ordered two subcontractors to pay more than $8 million for construction defects at a California condominium complex that allegedly caused the formation of toxic mold. El Escorial Owners' Association v. Santa Barbara Villas, et al., No. 01003147 (Calif. Super. Ct., Santa Barbara Cty.).
The award, entered Jan. 9 at the conclusion of a nearly 200-day bench trial in the Santa Barbara County Superior Court, will be reduced by offsets to just over $2.4 million and does not include any damages related to mold-induced injuries, according to the judgment.
