Jury Returns $1.8 Million Verdict in Mold/Water Damage Case




CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - HarrisMartin Publishing is reporting that a jury in Texas has returned a $1.8 million verdict against an insurance company accused of breach of contract after it refused to completely cover a mold and water-related damage claim submitted by a couple whose home was flooded by plumbing and air conditioning leaks. Miller v. Farmers Insurance Group, et al., No. 01-4238-E (Texas Dist. Ct., Nueces Cty.).

The Nueces County District Court jury returned the verdict Jan. 15, finding that insurer Fire Insurance Exchange, a division of Farmers' Insurance Company, breached its contract with insureds William and Maureen Miller. …
