Louisiana Passes Act to License Mold Remediators; 24 Hours Deemed Sufficient for Training




BATON ROUGE, La. - Louisiana governor M.J. "Mike" Foster, Jr., recently signed into law a bill to license those who perform mold remediation services in the state. The bill is lenient. For example, among its requirements is only 24 hours of industry-specific training.

House Bill 1328, now referred to as Act 880, was signed by the governor Aug. 15 for the purpose of requiring "qualifying criteria in a professional field in which unqualified individuals may injure or mislead the public." The resulting law will go into effect July 1, 2004.
