The following terms are found throughout this issue of COLUMNS-Mold. The definitions are from the 1995 edition of Merriam-Webster's Medical Dictionary unless otherwise stated.

antibody: any of a large number of proteins of high molecular weight that are produced normally by specializd B cells after stimulation by an antigen and act specifically against the antigen in an immune response, and that are produced abnormally by some cancer cells - called also immunoglobulin

apical: of, relating to, or situated at an apex (a narrowed or pointed end of an anatomical structure)

aspergillosis: opportunistic infections caused by Aspergillus
