Tenants Settle Mold Landlord Dispute for $430,000

VENTURA, Calif. - A lawsuit filed by a family of tenants who claimed their landlords concealed water intrusion and mold problems in their residence before requiring them to sign a rental agreement was settled recently for $430,000. Tyler Lester, et al. v. George Golden, et al., No. CIV 207680 (Calif. Super. Ct., Ventura Cty.).

The settlement was reached after Ventura County Superior Court set a May 1 trial date in the case. It will be funded with the $300,000 policy limit of the landlords' insurance policy, plus $130,000 from a mold remediation contractor, who the plaintiffs accused of cross-contaminating their …
