'Insurance Pays When Pigs Fly,' Contends Ballard in Response To Farmers' Petition for Review Filed in Texas Supreme Court

AUSTIN, Texas - On April 21, Fire Insurance Exchange, of which Farmers Insurance Group is an affiliate, filed a petition for review in the Supreme Court of Texas requesting oral argument in the Melinda Ballard mold/bad faith case. Fire Insurance Exchange, Petitioner, v. Mary Melinda Ballard, Respondent, No. 03-0312 (Texas Sup. Ct.).

In its petition for review, Fire Insurance Exchange (FIE) is seeking a reduction to $2 million of the judgment that was originally awarded in the amount of $32 million by a jury and later reduced to $6 million by the Third District Court of Appeals.
