Texas Legislators Introduce Bills to Regulate Mold Assessors and Remediators

photo-9Several bills related to the regulation of mold assessors and mold remediators have been introduced recently by members of the Texas House and Senate. On Jan. 29, for example, Senators Troy Fraser and Mike Jackson introduced a 30-page mold remediation regulation act (SB 129), followed closely on Feb. 5 by a 9-page mold assessor/mold remediation regulation act by Senator Eliot Shapleigh (SB 473).
According to sources familiar with the Texas Real Estate Commission, the Fraser/Jackson bill has encountered a number of obstacles, including resistance to the possibility that mold consultants and remediation contractors will be required to pay substantial …
