1 ARTICLE: "Indoor Air Quality, Ventilation and Health Symptoms in Schools: An Analysis of Existing Information"

SUMMARY: The authors conducted a review on topics concerning schools: indoor air quality, ventilation, and building-related health problems. They also collected existing data on ventilation rates, carbon dioxide concentrations and symptom-relevant indoor air contaminants. Their results suggest that ventilation is inadequate in many classrooms. They found reports on microbiological contaminants including allergens in deposited dust, fungi, and bacteria, with levels of specific allergens sufficient to cause symptoms in allergic occupants.
