Summary: The purpose of this 30-center epidemiological survey of European community respiratory health was to assess the association of asthma with airborne molds compared to other seasonal allergens. The study included 1,132 asthma patients between 20 and 44 years of age. The researchers found that the frequency of sensitisation to molds Alternaria alternata, Cladosporium herbarum or both increased significantly with increasing asthma severity for both severe and mild asthma.
