Summary: The authors studied the aerosolization process of fungal propagules of three mold species, Aspergillus versicolor, Penicillium melinii, and Cladosporium cladosporioides. They discovered that fungal fragments are aerosolized simultaneously with spores from contaminated agar and ceiling tile surfaces, but that up to 320 times more fragments are released compared to spores and that the number of released fragments could not be predicted based on the number of spores.
