Court Orders $537,448.43 of Settlement Be Given to Medicaid

PHILADELPHIA - A federal judge has ordered that $537,448.43 of an $11.9 million settlement in a children's mold-injury case be given to the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare as partial repayment of prior Medicaid coverage. McKinney v. Philadelphia Housing Authority, et al., No. 07-4432 (E.D. Pa.).

Judge Berle M. Schiller of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on Aug. 24 rejected allocation formulas proposed by both sides and awarded an amount he said compensated the state agency for past medical expenses for Ebony and Ronald Lewis Gage.
