Jurors Award $1.3 Million to Family After Finding Landlord Negligent

SANTA ANA, Calif. - A California jury has awarded nearly $1.3 million to a family that claimed serious pulmonary illness from exposure to dust mites, mold and other contaminants in a leaky apartment. <i.Fetzer v. Saferzadeh, No. 30-2009-00117812-CU-NP-CJC (Calif. Super. Ct., Orange Cty.).
The Orange County Superior Court has scheduled a hearing for June 8 on motions by the landlord defendant for a new trial or judgment notwithstanding the verdict.
