MIAMI - A federal judge has awarded summary judgment to insurers that refused to cover $1.3 million in repair costs incurred by a contractor blamed for damage from faulty repairs to condominium buildings after Hurricane Wilma in 2005. Rolyn Companies Inc. v. R&J Sales of Texas Inc., et al., No. 08-61618 (S.D. Fla.).
The Nov. 16 order by Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on motions by Admiral Insurance Co. and Crum & Forster Specialty Insurance Co. has been appealed by the insured contractor, Rolyn Companies Inc.
