La. Court Refuses to Extend Pre-Trial Deadlines in Payment Dispute

NEW ORLEANS - The Louisiana federal judge overseeing a fee dispute involving an unlicensed remediation firm has denied the firm's motion to extend pre-trial filing deadlines pending a decision by the 5th Circuit in a similar case. Trade-Winds Environmental Restoration Inc. v. Stewart, et al., No. 06-3299 (E.D. La.).

Trade-Winds (Tradewinds) Environmental Restoration Inc. is involved in several lawsuits over work it performed in Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina in September 2005.

In this lawsuit, Trade-Winds is seeking payment from Stewart Development LLC and Stirling Properties Inc. for work the firm says it did after the hurricane. Defendants have counterclaimed …
