LOS ANGELES — Opening arguments took place in the second case to go to trial in the Ford DPS6 PowerShift multidistrict litigation, in which plaintiffs allege that their 2014 Ford Focus was plagued with transmission problems, rendering the vehicle unsafe to drive.
The trial began on Dec. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, with plaintiffs Yvonne and Salvador Quintero arguing that Ford knew the defects in the PowerShift transmission made the Focus and Fiesta models dangerous and that the vehicles did not comply with Ford’s warranty obligations or consumers’ reasonable expectations.
