4 States Reach $48 Billion Settlement in Principle with Opioid Makers, Distributors

RALEIGH, N.C. — Attorneys general from four states have announced that they reached a $48 billion settlement in principle with Cardinal Health, McKesson Corp., AmerisourceBergen Corp., Johnson & Johnson and Teva Pharmaceuticals over their alleged role in the opioid epidemic.

The deal includes $22 billion in cash and $26 billion in medication assisted treatment drugs and their distribution over 10 years, according to an Oct. 21 press release from North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein’s office.
