N.Y. Woman Says JUUL’s Marketing Efforts Caused ‘Debilitating’ Nicotine Addiction

NEW YORK — An 18-year-old woman has sued the makers of JUUL e-cigarettes in New York federal court, alleging she developed a severe and debilitating nicotine addiction due to defendants’ aggressive advertising tactics aimed at a youth-oriented market.
In a Sept. 6 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, plaintiff Rosanna Wise says that at the time she began using JUUL, defendants did not disclose its health risks, including severe nicotine addiction, increase in blood pressure, vascular damage, cardiovascular injuries, permanent brain changes, mood disorders, and cancer.
