LOS ANGELES — A Colorado woman has sued the manufacturer of her allegedly defective breast implants after she was diagnosed with a rare type of lymphoma she says is linked to the silicone-based products.
The lawsuit, filed in California’s Los Angeles County Superior Court, accuses implant maker Allergan of failing to report adverse event data to the FDA that would have led to reports that the device could cause serious injury, including cancer.
Allergan’s breast implants, which are composed of a silicone outer shell filled with silicone gel, received pre-market approval as Class III medical devices in 2006. As a …
