Consolidated Federal Docket Sought for Suits over Facebook Release of User’s Personal Data

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Plaintiffs in one of more than a dozen lawsuits filed nationwide against Facebook for allegedly allowing unauthorized access to users’ personal information prior to the 2016 presidential election have asked a federal panel to transfer the cases to a single federal judge in California.

In a motion filed May 30, Theresa Beiner and Brandon Haubert contend that the consolidation of pending and future claims against Facebook for the alleged data “exfiltration” of user data to Cambridge Analytica is necessary in light of the “enormous” number of potential victims in the case and the anticipated number of filings.
