WASHINGTON, D.C. — Nearly 100 federal lawsuits alleging kidney damage and other injuries caused by the diabetes drug Invokana are set to be transferred to a judge in New Jersey for coordinated pretrial proceedings.
The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation ruled Dec. 7 that all pending and future federal Invokana cases would benefit from the convenience and efficiency of an MDL, but held that the docket would not include claims filed against the makers of similar diabetes drugs, Farxiga and Jardiance.
