S.C. Jury Finds for J&J in Asbestos Talc Case




COLUMBIA, S.C. — A South Carolina jury has found in favor of Johnson & Johnson on claims that a woman’s cancer was caused by her use of the company's talcum powder.

The jury, sitting in the Richland County (S.C.) Court of Common Pleas, deliberated for about an hour. The trial began on May 13, over which Judge Jean Toal presided.

Plaintiff Beth-Anee Johnson alleged her daily use of Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Powder caused her to develop mesothelioma because the product was contaminated with asbestos fibers.
