Fla. Court Weighs in Dispute Over Scope of Jurisdictional Discovery in Talc Case

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. –– A Florida state court has, in part, overruled objections to jurisdictional requests for production submitted by the plaintiffs in a talcum powder case, ordering Imerys Talc to answer specific interrogatories and to produce a corporate witness for deposition.

In a Jan. 14 brief filed in the Florida 15th Judicial Circuit Court for Palm Beach County, Imerys Talc America Inc. objected and responses to the plaintiffs jurisdictional requests for production, saying that the information sought by the plaintiff would not have given rise to specific jurisdiction.
