Missouri Judge Denies Defense Post-Trial Motions Contesting $4.69 Billion Talcum Powder Verdict

ST. LOUIS –– A Missouri state court has denied Johnson & Johnson’s motion for judgment notwithstanding the verdict, motion for new trials, and motion for new trials on damages in a talcum powder case that ended in a $4.69 billion verdict in favor of 22 talcum powder plaintiffs.

In an order issued Dec. 19, the Missouri Circuit Court for St. Louis City opined that the “evidence presented on [causation] was sufficient to support the jury’s verdict.”
