Imerys Talc America Files Notice of Appeal in Pennsylvania Talc Action, Contests Jurisdiction Order

PITTSBURGH –– Imerys Talc America Inc. has filed a notice of appeal with the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, seeking to contest an order in which a state court agreed to reconsider an order it issued 10 months prior saying it could not exercise jurisdiction over the company.

The talcum powder defendant maintains that the court’s original order –– in which it found that it could not exercise jurisdiction over Imerys simply based on its decision to fill out paperwork for a foreign corporation to do business in Pennsylvania –– should not be disturbed.
