Missouri Judge Rejects Post-Trial Motions in $110 Million Talc Verdict, Says Plaintiffs Established Jurisdiction

ST. LOUIS –– A Missouri state court judge has rejected post-trial motions filed in a talcum powder case that ended in a $110 million verdict, in part opining that the out-of-state plaintiffs had “sufficiently established that specific personal jurisdiction exists over both the Johnson & Johnson defendants and Imerys Talc America.”

In a 12-page ruling issued Nov. 29, Judge Rex M. Burlison of the Missouri 22nd Judicial Circuit Court for St. Louis City specifically relied on evidence presented by the plaintiffs that the defendants enlisted a Missouri company to manufacture, mislabel and package Baby Powder and Shower to Shower.
