Missouri Supreme Court Denies J&J’s Request to Review Stay Orders in Talc Cases; Jury Selection Begins




ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Supreme Court has denied a petition for writs of prohibition filed by Johnson & Johnson and Imerys Talc America, denying the defendants’ efforts to contest a trial court order declining to stay a future talcum powder trial.

Johnson & Johnson and Imerys Talc filed the petition for writ of prohibition in the Missouri Supreme Court on Jan. 6 and 10, respectively, one month after the Missouri 22nd Judicial Circuit Court for St. Louis City denied the defense efforts to stay upcoming talc trials.

The state high court denied the motions on Jan. 24.
