Judge Refuses to Stay Illinois Talcum Powder Lawsuit, Says Stay ‘Serves No Purpose’

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. –– A federal judge overseeing a multi-plaintiff talcum powder lawsuit has refused to stay the action, opining that “no purpose will be served by staying this case at this point.”

In the Sept. 27 online docket entry, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois further noted that the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation is “meeting in two days time and, presumably, will rule one way or the other on the pending petitions in short order.”

“A stay order is frivolous,” the court determined.
