Missouri Court Denies Imerys Talc’s Motion to Dismiss for Lack of Personal Jurisdiction in Talc-Based Powder Case

ST. LOUIS –– A Missouri state court has denied Imerys Talc America Inc.’s motion to dismiss a multi-plaintiff talcum powder lawsuit for lack of personal jurisdiction and Johnson & Johnson defendants’ efforts to dismiss or, alternatively, sever and transfer venue.
The Missouri 22nd Judicial Circuit Court for St. Louis City indicated its denial of the motions in a July 20 docket entry.
The underlying case was filed by a number of plaintiffs, who alleged that they developed ovarian cancer as a result of exposure to talcum powder products –– including Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Powder and Shower-to-Shower –– manufactured by …
