Missouri Court Denies Johnson & Johnson’s Post-Trial Motions Contesting $72 Million Verdict; Defendants Appeal

ST. LOUIS –– The Johnson & Johnson defendants against whom a $72 million verdict was lodged in a talc-based powder exposure suit have filed a notice of appeal with the Missouri Court of Appeals, according to a recent docket entry.
The defendants sent the notice of appeal to the Missouri Court of Appeals on July 7; Judge Rex M. Burlison denied the defendants’ post-trial motions on June 21.
Among the motions filed by the defendant in the wake of the $72 million verdict were ones for a new trial for a judgment notwithstanding the verdict.
