Federal Lawsuit IDs J&J Talcum Powder as Culprit in New Orleans Woman’s Ovarian Cancer Case

NEW ORLEANS — A 67-year-old New Orleans woman has sued Johnson & Johnson and the companies that mined talc for J&J’s talcum powder, alleging that daily application of the product for three decades caused her to develop ovarian cancer.

In a lawsuit filed March 16 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Paula Jackson alleges that the defendants ignored nearly 40 years of published scientific data linking the use of talcum powder products to an increased risk of ovarian cancer.
