CHICAGO — Plaintiffs in Illinois have moved to certify national and statewide classes of consumers who purchased Lumber Liquidators flooring and allege that it emits harmful amounts of formaldehyde.
In a March 26 motion filed just days after the underlying putative class action complaint was docketed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the plaintiffs contend that claims arising from the Chinese-made flooring product are ideally suited for class treatment.
According to the motion, Lumber Liquidators manufactured, labeled and sold the allegedly toxic flooring as compliant with the California Air Resources Board’s safety standards governing formaldehyde …
